Anotace	This paper aims to map out the theoretical and practical implications of the legislation determining the maintenance for minor children after the effective date of the New Civil Code. It deals with issues of justified needs of minors in the spectrum of the economic aspects of the current trend in prices and comparing the current practice of the Czech Republic courts. The last part of the paper is devoted to the Czech economy and the economic impacts on the family budget as well as possible forecasts of further development.
