$a La mujer invisible. Aportaciones a la historia del desdoblamiento de los nombres comunes en cuanto al género en el español y las otras lenguas romances de la Península Ibérica / $c Tibor Berta 336 $a text $b txt $2 rdacontent 337 $a bez média $b n $2 rdamedia 338 $a svazek $b nc $2 rdacarrier 520 $a It is a rather well-known fact that, due to the demands for ensuring the social visibility of women, based on the tendencies to balance the presence of both sexes in society, many Spanish, Portuguese and Catalan nouns, formally invariables as for their gender, have split into two during the past decades (e.g. presidente m., f. - presidente m., presidenta f.). It is logical to assume that the social changes induce the grammatical innovations, but the long-established tendency in the history of Romance languages to distinguish the two genders of the nouns may also raise doubts in this regard. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to review the history of the phenomenon of the split of common nouns with respect to their gender in Spanish in the light of the neighboring Romance languages of the Iberian Peninsula. The main purpose of this analysis is to reveal what kind of relations exist between this linguistic phenomenon and the changes in social traditions. 650 07
