In its third volume, called La llama, the author evokes his personal memories of the Spanish Civil War. There are various narrative modes used in the book, including the intrahistorical and journalistic one. The intrahistorical narrative mode, propagated by Miguel de Unamuno at the end of the 19th century, is used to reflect the psychological dimension of a historical period. In the case of Barea's book, this technique helps the readers to understand the emotions of Spanish people affected by the disaster of 1936. In turn, the journalistic language used in La llama contributes to create a narrative which seems like a plausible testimony and, therefore, it is very convincing. Moreover, it allows to intertwine the experiences and very personal emotions with generally known historical facts. En el artículo se estudia la técnica narrativa de la autobiografía La forja de un rebelde, en cuyo tercer tomo, La llama, Arturo Barea evoca sus recuerdos personales de la Guerra Civil española. En el libro bareano se dan varios modos narrativos de los que destacan el intrahistórico y el periodístico. A través del relato intrahistórico, propagado por Miguel de Unamuno a finales del siglo XIX, se consigue reflejar la dimensión psicológica de una época histórica. En el caso del libro bareano, esta técnica ayuda a los lectores a entender las emociones de los españoles afectados por el desastre de 1936. A su vez, el lenguaje periodístico de La llama contribuye a crear una narración testimonial verosímil y, por lo tanto, muy convincente. Además, permite entrelazar las vivencias y emociones muy personales con los hechos históricos generalmente conocidos.
