Annotation	In the article the author aims to analyze the evolution of the way in which the metaphor has been framed through the centuries. She compares the thought of Aristotle and Quintilian, but also the main theories about metaphor like the interaction theory, the pragmatic theory, the cognitive theory, and the contribution by Vico. The reflection will focus on issues such as the nature of metaphor and the mechanism that regulates its functioning, the problem of embodiment as well as its rhetorical status.
	Nell'articolo l'Autrice si propone di analizzare l'evoluzione del modo di inquadrare la metafora attraverso i secoli. A confronto saranno sottoposti il pensiero di Aristotele e Quintiliano, ma anche le principali teorie della metafora quali tra l'altro la teoria dell'interazione, la teoria pragmatica, la teoria cognitiva, senza tralasciare tuttavia il contributo di Vico. La riflessione si concentrerà sui problemi quali la natura della metafora e il meccanismo che regola il suo funzionamento, il problema del radicamento esperienziale nonché il suo status retorico.
