This is achieved by contrasting sugar production (response variable) with a number of predictor variables using simple linear and stepwise multiple regression method and data series for the period 1961-2013 (for most variables). The analysis shows that in majority of examined countries sugar production is determined by the production of sugar cane, sugar consumption, and country’s population, each of them generally explaining about 90 per cent of variation in the response variable.
