Zvláštní pozornost bude věnována symbolickému poselství konkrétních soch a obrazů glorifikujících smrt v konkrétním historickém a kulturním kontextu. Cílem studie je interpretovat hodnotové systémy a s nimi spjaté postoje ke smrti v době geneze lidské tvořivosti (mladý paleolit), starověku, středověku, renesance, baroka, klasicismu, modemy a postmoderny. Na příkladu sedmi výtvarných děl prezentovaných jako sémiotický systém bude (de)tabuizována smrt jako kulturní konstrukt a příběh o lidské transcendence. The subject of the study is a culturological analysis of death in art history. Special attention will be paid to the symbolic message carried by particular sculptures and paintings glorifying death in a specific historic and cultural context. The aim of the study is to interpret value systems together with relating attitudes to death in the period of human creativity genesis (Upper Palaeolithic), Ancient history, Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Classicism, Modernism and Postmodernism. Exemplified by seven artworks presented as a semiotic system, death - perceived as a cultural construct and a story of human transcendence, will be (de)tabooed.
