Baumol expects that the overexpansion of unproductive activities can lead to the decline of certain civilization. Rather than decline, this paper focuses on possible reasons of economic slowdown in the European Union. In our view based on Baumol ideas, among them may be expanding legislation, patent law or European funding system.
