This Nicaraguan poet, priest and master of words, inspired especially by the poetry of Ezra Pound, continues a new style called "Exteriorismo". His poetry is distinguished by the idea of revolution and its relationship with the new, rebellious religious arising after the Second Vatican Council, known as liberation theology. The poet proposes his own reading of biblical texts and updates them in Latin America context, searching even for Marxist hints in the Bible. It lists the most urgent problems indicated by Cardenal, indicated previously by other authors: Rafael Barrett, Thomas Merton and Augusto Roa Bastos and relating to Christianity and the institution of the Catholic Church. 520 $a La ponencia propuesta inicia una serie de investigaciones acerca del rol de la religión en la poesía de Ernesto Cardenal. Este poeta, sacerdote y maestro de la palabra, inspirado sobre todo en la poética de Ezra Pound, introduce en la literatura latinoamericana un nuevo estilo llamado "exteriorismo". Destaca en su poesía la idea de una revolución y -relacionada con ella- la vinculación con un nuevo pensamiento religioso rebelde después del Vaticano II, considerado como la teología de la liberación. El poeta nicaragüense propone su propia relectura de los textos bíblicos, su actualización en el contexto latinoamericano. En el texto se enumerarán los problemas más candentes indicados por Cardenal en la sociedad latinoamericana, pero ya presentes en otros autores, por ejemplo en Rafael Barrett, Thomas Merton o en Hijo de hombre, de Augusto Roa Bastos, en referencia al cristianismo y a la institución de la Iglesia católica. 600 17
