This article deals with some questions of terminology in detective stories. The goal of this article was to point out some typical terminological features of detective story written by famous detective author Agatha Christie. The research was performed on the text of the detective story named Appointment with Death. It proved that it is important to study terms in connection with translation of detective stories. In detective stories we can find different types of terminology, such as law terminology, medical terminology, terminology connected with traveling and tourism, and, especially in the above mentioned story, because of the territory, where the story took place, The Middle East, there are plenty of geographical names. In it we can also find words and terminology from the Arabic language. This contribution gives a short explanation why it is important to study terminology for the purpose of non-scientific texts.
