$a Smrť, ale i akt zomierania boli a sú jednými z najdiskutovanejších pojmov v dejinách ľudstva. Vo všetkých kultúrach sú spájané s rôznymi mýtmi, rituálmi, poverami a mnohé z aspektov spojených so smrťou človeka, sú zahalené rúchom tajomna. Práve mystika a tajomno okolo smrti podnecujú u ľudí na jednej strane záujem až fascináciu, no na strane druhej v nich vzbudzujú rešpekt a strach zo smrti a zomierania. Toho dôsledkom je častá snaha o vytesnenie smrti a všetkého, čo s ňou súvisí, jej banalizácia či pokusy o oddialenie starnutia a zomierania. Extrémnějšími podobami vysporiadania sa s konečnosťou života sú rôzne spôsoby virtualizácie zosnulých, "komunikácia" s mŕtvymi v kyberpriestore prostredníctvom nových technológií alebo forma nesmrteľnosti v digitálnej podobe. V informačnom veku, veku nových technológií, čoraz výkonnejších softvérov a inteligentných zariadení, sa čoraz viac stretávame s pojmami ako kyberpriestor, virtualita, umelá inteligencia, ktoré sa postupne stávajú súčasťou každodenných životov. V poslednom období sa však tieto pojmy spájajú vo veľkom meradle aj so smrťou a zomieraním, a to nielen v kontexte informačnom alebo vzdelávacom, ale aj ich vizualizácie a prezentovania v rôznych podobách alebo sprítomňovania v rôznych interaktívnych formách. V dôsledku týchto procesov sa výrazne mení nielen nahliadanie na smrť a zomieranie, ale aj ich chápanie v širších kultúrnych, sociologických, filozofických, teologických, psychologických alebo medicínskych kontextoch. 520 3-
$a Death and the act of dying have always been among the most discussed issues in human history. They have been linked to various myths, rituals and superstitions in all cultures, with many of the aspects connected to death of human person being shrouded in a veil of mystery. It is mystery surrounding death that has captured interest and frequently it has even led to fascination with death on one hand, while at the same time it has also been inspiring respect and fear. This has often resulted in attempts to sideline death and everything that is related to it, in efforts to make it appear banal and in attempts to postpone the process of ageing and dying. Rather extreme ways of coping with the finiteness of life include various forms of "virtualisation" of the deceased, "communication" with the dead in cyberspace with the use of new technologies, and a kind of immortality in digital form. The Information Age, which is an age of new technologies, high-performance software and intelligent devices, has made terms as cyberspace, virtual reality and artificial intelligence appear ever more frequently and increasingly also become part of our everyday lives. As of recently, these terms have been linked to death and dying ever more often, not only in the context of information and education, but also in order to visualise and present death and dying in various forms and making them present in interactive ways. These processes have led to a significant shift in viewing death and dying, with significant effects in cultural, sociological, philosophical, theological, psychological and medicinal contexts. 650 07
